PM Matekane declares Seville Conference “Crucial” as the world struggles with Climate Change & Economic Challenges

PM Ntsokoane Matekane says, the ongoing Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development in Seville Spain, is crucial as the world grapples with climate change and financial restraints.

The three-day conference, expected to end on Thursday, is addressing new issues; the urgent need to implement Sustainable Development Goals, and supporting international financial planning reform.

Matekane highlighted that, these challenges limit African states from achieving the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs. He stated that, the summit offers a “once-in-a-decade opportunity” for African countries to renew their commitment to closing the widening financing gap.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed Lesotho’s appreciation for commitments made in Spain’s Outcome Document. He added that, while Lesotho has invested in productive sectors to address financial challenges, climate change effects are adding to the existing burden.
