Two individuals recently appeared before the Maseru Magistrate’s Court on separate vehicle-related charges: ’Mabataung Lichaba of Khubetsoana Berea, is charged with fraudulently registering a vehicle, while Molefi Mohato of Ha Fako Maseru, faces charges of vehicle theft.
Inspector Tsietsi Mokoka from the Department of Prevention and Combatting of Cross-Border and Vehicle Theft stated that, officers impounded a Quantum minibus for inspection. Investigation revealed it had been registered using incorrect procedures and that, the vehicle was actually owned by a bank in South Africa, according to online records.
’Mabataung Lichaba, who is a vehicle registrar in Berea, was implicated in the fraudulent registration of the vehicle. She was granted free bail and is scheduled to reappear in court on the 26th of this month.
Mohato was granted M500.00 bail, which he paid, and is scheduled to appear in court again on the 18th of this month
