Roads Directorate held a Sensitization meeting for the Mohale’s Hoek heads of departments focusing on road reserves within the district

A Highway and Road Reserve Engineer Mr. Mariti Mariti said the meeting also challenged HODs on their responsibility in protecting these areas, also noting that Directorate is on the process of safeguarding road reserves particularly near main roads in alignment with the Roads Directorate Act of 2010

He warned against the building of houses near reserves, fencing, planting trees, placing of billboards, and these designated areas for other their purpose

On the other hand, a Technical Manager Mr. Seatile Papashane, highlighted that his office is responsible for informing the public about road reserves and their significance hence engaging the heads of departments

The meeting also highlighted that the public is also eligible to apply to reserve a portion of land within road reserves, however they must do so by consulting the Roads Directorate
