DCEO’s director, Adv. Mants’o Sello, informed the media that, PM Samuel Matekane has declared his assets, along with all members of the cabinet and Principal Secretaries.

Adv. Sello stated that, this compliance is in line with the law requiring certain public officials to declare their wealth. She called this a good example that should be followed by all, who are mandated to comply with the law.

Adv. Sello also provided an update on the DCEO’s investigative activities. He reported that, the investigations and enforcement unit has handled 516 cases from April to November this year.

Of these cases, 146 are ongoing, 77 are currently under active investigation, 22 have been completed and 20 have been closed.

He added that, during the same period, DCEO successfully recovered assets valued at approximately M4 million that were linked to corruption and economic crime.

Finally, Adv. Sello reported a specific success within the Social Development ministry, where they managed to recover over M345,000 from 187 individuals who were fraudulently receiving funds intended for the elderly.
