Finance and Development Planning Minister Dr. Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane says progress has been made on cleansing up the bleached South African bank notes in the country.

Finance and Development Planning Minister Dr. Retšelisitsoe Matlanyane says progress has been made on cleansing up the bleached South African bank notes in the country.

Briefing members of the National Assembly yesterday, Dr. Matlanyane said the Central Bank of Lesotho has since met with their South African counterparts and the Common Monitory Association central banks in February this year.

She highlighted the meeting and agreed that South Africa will launch a new family of Bank notes with new features and will be in circulation by the 03rd of May this year.

The Minister further noted that the notes will be in circulation in Lesotho by latest June this year.

Dr. Matlanyane said in the process the bleached bank notes will continue to be collected and remitted to the central bank for final dispatch to the Reserve Bank to be confiscated.
