Following the discovery of an infant’s body in a toilet in Roma last weekend, police have arrested the perpetrator.
Inspector Jeremane Motake of Roma police said, they have arrested a 21-year- woman Katarina Lekhooa of Ha-Mojela Makhaleng who will appear in court on Thursday for concealment of birth.
Insp. Motake called on young girls and women to refrain from throwing away babies but should rather give them away for adoption if they feel they are not ready to mother children.
On the other hand, Ha-Mafefooane Crime Prevention Committee’s Chairperson Mr. Sipho Ramalitse thanked the community for assisting with information which led to the arrest of the woman.
Ramalitse emphasized that landlords should demand stamped identification letters from Chiefs where their tenants hail from, as this will help in tracing them once they have committed crimes.
