Her Majesty Queen Masenate Bereng Seeiso has commended journalists who were awarded certificates and awards for their excellent reporting on issues relating to trafficking in persons, ending child marriage and gender based violence.
Speaking in Maseru earlier today, The Queen also encouraged them to continue advocating for children’s rights in Lesotho saying, their role is appreciated in bringing awareness on child protection issues.
The winners in the 4 categories of radio, print, TV and social media were part of 24 participants who participated in this competition.
All winners-3 from each category besides Television, have been awarded a media training worth M5,000 by Vodacom Lesotho, a trophy for their media houses, a tablet and cellphone, while the overall winners in print received cameras, voice recorders and free internet for 6 months.
The media awards were organised by World vision Lesotho in collaboration with MISA-Lesotho, Unicef, International organisation of Immigration-IOM and the ministry of Gender and youth, sports, arts, culture and social development.
