The High Court ruled that Deputy Commissioner of Police Motsotuoa Ntaote be immediately reistated to his position.
The ruling followed an application by Ntaote requesting the intervention of the court after he was refused reinstatement despite being acquitted of fraud charges by the High Court in June this year. According to court's records Ntaote reported back to work after he was acquitted but was told that he could not be reinstated because the criminal matter against him is not over as the crown has appealed against his acquittal. When passing judgement Justice Thamsanqa Nomngoco stated that judgements of the court cannot be ignored just because the other party is not satisfied. He further stated that the judgement delivered in June, acquitting Ntaote, immediately removed the criminal charges against him adding that it should have been effective immediately after it was delivered. Ntaote first appeared before the Magistrate court charged with defrauding the government of Lesotho of M18,000.00 when he took two official trips to South Africa in 2005 and 2006 respectively.
