Through CARE Lesotho, Project Ts'epo will hold its first prevention campaign for cross border migrants at the Maseru Border Post on 1st April 2010.
Ts'epo Project Manager Mrs 'Mamoletsane Khati said that the campaign will include competition on HIV and AIDS education, testing and counseling services, and condoms with different flavours will be distributed. Mrs Khati further said that the objective of the project is to reduce the occurrence of new infections amongst high population groups, adding that this will be done through changing attitudes and values to HIV prevention and the use of condoms. She concluded that however the campaign will be on April Fools Day, people should not make a joke about the activity and HIV. Despite Miners, prisoners, cross border migrants and commercial sex workers with high rates of infection, few HIV and AIDS programmes in Lesotho target these high risk groups hence CARE Lesotho through the campaign's goal is to reach out to these population.
