Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation women’s conference kicked off in Maseru earlier today, where the aim was to empower women in tourism and to create dialogues that will enhance the industry.

Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation women’s conference kicked off in Maseru earlier today, where the aim was to empower women in tourism and to create dialogues that will enhance the industry.

LTDC’s CEO Dr. Retselisitsoe Nko thanked all women who have worked hard to transform the tourism industry and supporting those with a dream to work in it. Dr. Nko said the corporation is very proud of women who have also helped achieve some of the sustainable development goals set forth by the corporation, pointing out that they are determined to enhance women participation in the tourism industry.

The minister of Tourism, Environment and Culture Ms Ntlhoi Motsamai said, the road to women’s achievement in the industry has not been easy, pointing out that, as they conclude the African Women’s month and begin Tourism Month, they want to celebrate the role played by women in tourism in economic growth.

On the other hand, the Principal secretary in the ministry of gender and youth, sports and recreation Dr. Mamoeketsi Ntho said, women in tourism need to work hard to curb the spread of gender based violence and human trafficking, which usually happens in their businesses. Dr Ntho said they appreciate the role of women in tourism as it has contributed immensely in the growth of this country’s economy.
