Mafeteng Senior Special Education Officer Ms. Lihlong Tjokosela has called on parents with disabled children to send them to school.
Tjokosela said every child has a right to education regardless of their situation as disability is not inability hence the need to educate them.
She said currently, Mafeteng has three schools for the disabled-2 primary schools and a high school, which she said have been established for disabled children’s education. She highlighted that those who are able to get into formal education should be enrolled, while those with vocational skills should be enrolled in those schools.
She further said the district has another new vocational school for the disabled at Khubetsoana, where disabled pupils from the age of 13 can enroll in home economics, sewing, and agriculture.
