The United Nations mission in Lesotho says, women’s inclusion in decision making and including the gender lens into climate and environment policies ae critical to effective climate action.
UN Lesotho said women and girls play a central role in addressing, mitigating and solving the climate crisis. It adds that, women are more likely to consider their families and communities in decision making processes, allowing for a more holistic and effective climate action.
It indicates that women possess unique knowledge and experience, particularly at the local level in areas such as agriculture, conservation and management of natural resources.
It is in this spirit that through its International Women’s Day dialogue to be held tomorrow, UN-Lesotho will recognize women who have contributed to climate change initiatives in their communities.
