A 70 year-old Nigerian citizen who is a lecturer at the National University of Lesotho Professor Chris Manus has been charged with rape.
According to Sup. Mopeli, Professor Manus is said to have regularly called female students to his office and made sexual moves after locking them in his office.
Mopeli said though there were reports of only three students who were victims of such acts, there might still be other victims who may be scared of reporting the lecture as that may negatively interfere with their studies.
Meanwhile the Student Representative Council President Mr. Reatlehile Makateng, said his office has also received reports that the professor used to tell students that there shall be no jurisdiction upon him since Lesotho is desperate of integrity Lecturers of his class.
At least 4.4 million people in 95 countries are stateless or of undetermined nationality. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in its annual report marking the 9th anniversary of its #IBelong campaign said, the actual figure globally is believed to be significantly higher, given the relative invisibility of stateless people in national statistical exercises.
