With the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases rising daily, Peace Corps Lesotho will temporarily suspend its programs in the country.
This follows the announcement by Peace Corps Director Ms. Judy Olsen to suspend all volunteer activities globally due to the COVID-19 outbreak
The statement from Peace Corps Lesotho indicated that for more than 50 years the Peace Corps has been a pillar of the partnership between United States and Lesotho and stressed that Peace Corps Lesotho is not closing but that all parties will work to resume operations as soon as possible when conditions normalize.
At least 4.4 million people in 95 countries are stateless or of undetermined nationality. United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in its annual report marking the 9th anniversary of its #IBelong campaign said, the actual figure globally is believed to be significantly higher, given the relative invisibility of stateless people in national statistical exercises.
