The Minister of Small Business Development and Cooperatives Mr. Machesetsa Mofomobe says 2022/23 financial year is still going to bear bitter results for public servants as they are still going to get zero percent increment.
Mofomobe said public servants will never get any increment any time soon because there is no money as corruption and wage bill have engulfed the government’s purse, leaving the latter with no option but to not increase salaries.
He said this is caused mostly by corruption, also saying that Lesotho is where it is as a country because the pillars of good governance were destroyed by previous executive, which emptied the government’s purse.
He also said the creation of First Lady’s position, the Prime Minister getting 80 percent of his salary when retiring and M500,000 interest free loans to MPs, also led to government not being able to allocate funds to National Manpower Development Secretariat and gratuities of public servants.
