A South African inmate who is one of the eight foreign inmates were released on Amnesty by Lesotho Correctional Services in November last year, is still in the country.

LCS Public Relations Officer Senior Cadet Officer Pheko Ntobane said this is because his government through the department of Home Affairs is unable to identify him or locate his relatives, as a result, could not say if indeed he is South African.

Ntobane said another inmate who was a South African was sent back to his country in April this year because his relatives were easily located.

He also indicated that, both Lesotho and SA governments do not have a problem of sending the remaining inmate to his home country, however, the problem is that, his origins cannot be traced.
