Lesotho National Federation of Organizations of the Disabled –LNFOD says People living with disabilities are being discriminated against in the preparations for the coming general elections.

LNFOD’s Project Coordinator Mr. Rabasotho Moeletsi said the rights of people with disabilities are not safeguarded and that they are isolated in the process, since the Independent Electoral Commission systems are not as friendly to them as they are to able-bodied people.

He said although IEC is making strides to accommodate them, they still fall short of the necessary facilities such as voting stations which are inaccessible to some of them.

He also said IEC did not include LNFOD in teaching and encouraging the disabled to vote.
