Community engagement on issues related to HIV, is needed to close gaps caused by inequality in the country.

This appeared during a two-day stakeholder’s consultative meeting for the development of the national HIV/AIDS Strategic plan of 2023/`24-2027/28, which came to an end in Maseru today.

According to Mr. Hlompho Motsoasele from the National AIDS Commission, the 2019\`23 national AIDS Strategic plan shows that Lesotho has not yet attained the target of less than 5 percent of mother to child transmission, and that HIV/AIDS infection rate amongst garment workers is at an alarming rate of 43 percent.

However, treatment as prevention, voluntary male circumcision, PREP and PED have appeared to be the main factors contributing to decline of HIV.
