Money Talks, But Construction Doesn’t: Moshoeshoe I Airport Still in Limbo Despite M7Million Payment

There is nothing much seen on the ground with regard to the rehabilitation of the Moshoeshoe I International airport although the government has paid the new contractor M7Million.

This was said by Parliamentary Chair of Chairs Mr. Mokhothu Makhalanyane during the Parliamentary Committees’ Chairpersons and members tour at the Moshoeshoe I Airport yesterday.

Mr. Makhalanyane said they visited the airport to analyse the rehabilitation progress, but only a little has been made thus far.

He said they were dissatisfied with what they saw based on the amount of money that has been paid pointing out that, the construction work is slow and that there are gaps which need to be addressed.

He also urged the Chairperson of the Natural Resources Committee, to establish a team within a period of two weeks which will monitor the Moshoeshoe I airport’s project.

He further indicated that the Parliamentary Committees have decided to monitor all major projects in the country including the construction of the Royal Palace, which has since been halted.

On the other hand, the Construction Site Supervisor Mr. Letsema Letela said, the original design of the airport has been changed here and there, saying some buildings will be demolished for extension and that two more floors will be added in the main building of the airport.
