Lesotho Government and Opposition Parties Discuss Progress on New Constitution

The government and opposition parties convened today to discuss progress on the implementation of national reforms on the new constitution. 

In an interview with PCFM, the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Richard Ramoeletsi said the meeting aimed to build consensus on the proposed constitution. 

The minister said, the purpose of these meetings is to ensure everyone has the opportunity to express their views on the national reforms

He added that, the discussions with the opposition were cordial and noted that, they plan to engage with both the Senate and the National Assembly in subsequent sessions, as part of the ongoing consultations. 

On the other hand, one of the opposition leaders, Adv Lekhetho Rakuoane who attended the meeting, refrained from commenting extensively.

He remarked that, he cannot say much at this time, as they are waiting to meet with the Senate in the next session
