D-Permit Delay Causes Chaos in Lesotho’s School Transport System

In just the second week of the reopening of schools, School bus owners are complaining about the delay of the issuance of the D-permit document by the Department  of Transport.

One owner of a School Bus Mr Lethe Ndaba said, they had earlier met with the ministry, where they tabled their grievances, in particular the delay in getting permits.

On the other hand, another member of the school Bus Association Mrs Malerato Lebajoa said,  the process of applying for the D-permit is overloaded for them since they have to queue with other drivers seeking permits for their businesses such as  4+1 taxi drivers.

Meanwhile, the ministry of transport said despite the delay, the permits are currently readily available and that all school bus drivers, who had made requests, have been assisted.
