The Minister of Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition Thabo Mofosi has officiated the 3-day Agricultural Productivity Program for Southern Africa_APPSA Conference in Maseru, by emphasizing that with such initiative’s, food security can be enhanced in the Southern African region
Speaking at this 2nd conference yesterday, Minister Mofosi said such platforms must be utilized to share a common burning passion for advancing food and nutrition security throughout the SADC region
The Minister said the APPSA conference is also a platform to share agricultural ideas and take action on fast-tracking advanced agricultural practices that will lead to sustainable agricultural projects and advanced technologies
At the same event, World Bank’s representative Daniel Gerber described the agricultural sector as a catalyst for global development, which he noted the need for collaborative efforts towards its sustainable implementation and success
Echoing the same sentiments, Dr. Majola Mabuza from the Centre for Coordination of Agricultural Research and Development for Southern Africa, noted despite existing efforts, there is a need for more collaboration in sharing measures that improve agriculture in the SADC region
