LESOTHO ENERGY MINISTER LAUNCHES RURAL ELECTRIFICATION PROJECT IN MOSALEMANE: 11 VILLAGES TO BENEFIT

The Energy Minister Mohlomi Moleko officiated the Launch of the Rural Electrification Project at Khokhoba in the Mosalemane constituency. At least 11 villages will reportedly benefit from the project

The 1 year 6 months’ project is allegedly funded by nearly 27 Million Maloti and is allocated to a Chinese Jiang Su company

During the official ceremony, Minister Moleko reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the lives of Basotho, also emphasizing its objective for Lesotho to generate its own power, rather than buying from Mozambique and SA

On the other hand, parliamentarian for the Mosalemane constituency, Prof. Ntoi Rapapa commended the Ministry’s move, emphasizing the need for a widespread electrification in all constituencies

Prof Rapapa highlighted that for years Mosalemane was amongst marginalized constituencies in the country, however, the current government has made progress in promoting its development, he concluded by pleading with the government to oversee developments in the educational and health sectors

Meanwhile, Khokhoba Area Chief, Chief Tieho Seleke said with multiple development projects running in their communities, they feel privileged that soon they will be electrified, further urging the community to refrain from vandalizing of electricity equipment
