An estimated M54 million will be distributed to 10,000 families under the Sustainable Livelihood Project and Economic Inclusion Programme for vulnerable families, so that they can start small businesses.

This was announced by the Minister of Gender, Youth and Social Development Pitso Lesaoana, while addressing the National Assembly. Lesaoana explained that, the funds come from the World Bank to support a five-year project, which was initially launched in July 2022.

Minister Lesaoana added that, this year’s rollout began in Mafeteng’s Thaba-Phechela constituency last month, with other districts set to follow.

So far, over M9 million has been distributed to cover 1,000 beneficiaries in various electoral divisions of Thaba-Phechela, in collaboration with various government departments and ministries.
