Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Lejone Mpotjoane attends FOCAC Meeting.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Lejone Mpotjoane is in China today, to participate in the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the follow-up actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, known as FOCAC.


The meeting’s purpose is to discuss the implementation of outcomes from the 2024 FOCAC Summit, held in Beijing last September. The FOCAC 2025–2027 Action Plan includes, cooperation across ten partnership areas including trade, industrial chain development, connectivity and development cooperation.

The Ministerial Meeting will be immediately followed by the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo, running from tomorrow until Saturday. This expo aims to advance further avenues for economic collaboration and mutual development.

Minister Mpotjoane is expected to deliver an address focusing on Lesotho’s progress under FOCAC in various sectors, including health. He will highlight the successful completion and opening of the Maseru District Hospital; a key initiative under the cooperation.
South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola will also be part of these events.
