Inspector Thabo Setenane-the Head of the Criminal Investigation Division in the Qacha’s Nek Police, has confirmed a 23-year-old woman from Ha Mohlapiso Moqoqeleng is in police custody.

She is accused of concealing the birth of her newborn baby and burying it in an ash pile.

In an interview with PC FM earlier today, Inspector Setenane stated that, it is alleged the woman buried her newborn on May 21st.

Following a Village Health Worker’s concern about her birth details, the woman reportedly confessed and led the worker to the ash pile. Police discovered the newborn’s body over the weekend.

Inspector Setenane mentioned a similar case occurred in Tebellong in March this year. He concluded by confirming that, police investigations are ongoing and the woman is awaiting her first court appearance
