Khokhoba Community faces severe water shortage despite ongoing efforts.

Khokhoba Community Councilor Ntabejane Sekete says, villages in his area are facing a severe water crisis despite ongoing efforts to address the issue.

Sekete said, the water crisis is particularly severe in Khokhoba, Moreneng and Tsipa Ha-Sekhobe, affecting 280 families. Tsipa, Ha-Sekhobe village is the most vulnerable due to the high cost of pumping water uphill.

In an attempt to overcome the devastating water shortage, Khokhoba villagers collectively contributed M100.00 per family to purchase pipes. However, Sekete noted that, despite their efforts, the results fell short due to the high vulnerability in the village. He also revealed that, Khokhoba, Moreneng remains disconnected from a clean water supply due to a shortage of pipes needed to cover 1500 meters.

In conclusion, Mr. Molefi Khang, a resident of Khokhoba, appealed to the government for assistance. Khang stated that the lack of water is not only affecting daily lives but also threatening their livelihoods as farmers, with crops wilting due to insufficient irrigation.
