Lesotho Defence Force’s Commander lɛfˈtɛnənt General Mojalefa Letsoela says, Lesotho army lost two commanders in a short period due to external directives, and it is still suffering the consequences.
lɛfˈtɛnənt General Letsoela stated this while giving evidence today in the high court’s case of Maaparankoe Mahao, where Tlali Kamoli and other army members are accused.
He expressed his wonder about the whereabouts of other army members, as he only saw Tlali Kamoli and the army members arrested with him. He indicated that, he and Kamoli followed a similar career path, where politicians seemed to be heavily involved in the army. However, his approach differed as he had learned from Kamoli.
Furthermore, lɛfˈtɛnənt General Letsoela said, it was difficult for him to come and testify against these accused army members, as he oversees them. Nevertheless, responsibility compelled him to come and answer these matters, as the court required him to do so.
The case continues.
