As a gesture of appreciation for the warm hospitality he received in Lesotho, renowned African content creator Wode Maya hosted a free masterclass for Basotho content creators in Maseru yesterday.

Mamello Morojele, on behalf of Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation stressed that, Lesotho’s tourism narrative plays a crucial role in promoting the country, and boosting the local economy. Morojele noted that, WodeMaya’s influence has significantly helped expose Lesotho’s unique qualities to a broader audience. She encouraged content creators to embrace their identity proudly and showcase Lesotho’s beauty to the world.

Wode Maya stressed the importance of transforming one’s passion into a profitable profession. He attributed the low monetization of content in Lesotho to a lack of local content. He also underscored the value of authenticity in content creation, advising aspiring creators to gradually grow their platforms rather than quitting their current jobs. He concluded by highlighting mental resilience, urging creators to use negative feedback as motivation.

Speaking with PC FM, Mmathaabe Mabote, an aspiring content creator, shared that, she joined the masterclass to learn the fundamentals, improve her platform, and pursue her passion. Kabelo Leqhaoe, another content creator, highlighted the importance of collaboration among African content creators stating that, it accelerates growth, expands reach, fosters strong connections, and enhances Africa’s global recognition.
