The Mokhotlong District Administrator Mr. Kepa Keqe is calling on local communities to protect their environment. Keqe has urged residents to stop burning grass and to safeguard grazing areas and natural resources.
Speaking during the handover of emergency rehabilitation works at Khubelu, Keqe stressed that, preserving the environment is vital for improving livestock health and overall community well-being.
He encouraged residents from the nine surrounding villages to take ownership of the restored land, emphasizing that, such efforts would significantly boost wool and mohair production.
The event, led by ReNOKA, took place at Pae-Lea-Itlhatsoa under the Seate Community Council. It included the construction of silt traps and retaining walls to prevent soil erosion. Chiefs and community leaders present at the event, pledged their commitment to protect the newly rehabilitated area.
