A significant meeting has just concluded in Malabo Equatirial Guinea, focusing on accelerating Africa’s development agenda.
On the sidelines of the 7th African Union Mid-Year Coordination Meeting, the Chairperson of the African Union’s Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, led a high-level coordination gathering which brought together the Heads of Regional Economic Communities, Regional Mechanisms, and NEPAD.
Co-chaired by IGAD, which currently chairs the Inter-Regional Econonic Communities Coordination Committee, the discussions aimed to build on earlier talks from the 3rd of this month. The primary focus was to enhance synergy, coherence and effective delivery across Africa’s key integration, development, and financial institutions.
Leaders exchanged updates, reconfirmed shared priorities and explored concrete strategies to fast-track the implementation of Agenda 2063–the continent’s blueprint for transformation. The AUC’s Chairperson emphasized the African Union’s commitment to unity of purpose, strengthened collaboration and joint efforts to achieve greater impact for ‘The Africa We Want.’
The Heads of the Regional Economic Communities welcomed the positive momentum under the AUC’s new leadership, and reaffirmed their strong support for improved coordination, all in service of the continent’s aspirations
Lesotho at this meeting was represented amongst others by its permanent representative to African Union Ntsiuoa Sekete.
