The Minister in the Prime Minister’s office Limpho Tau has delivered a report to the National Assembly detailing the initial findings of the Disaster Management Authority’s assessment. While not yet complete, the report shows widespread damage due to the recent strong winds with some residents severely impacted.
The Minister provided a breakdown of the number of houses destroyed in several districts in which he said in Leribe, 5 houses were destroyed, Berea 15, Maseru 36, Mafeteng 30, Mohale’s Hoek 18 and Mokhotlong 2
Minister Tau stated that, DMA in collaboration with its partners, is continuing its research to inform a targeted intervention plan. The proposed solutions could include building new houses or providing reroofing assistance to affected households.
