South Africa’s National Director of Public Prosecutions, Adv. Shamila Batohi, has acknowledged that the country’s fight against organized crime is not yielding the desired results

Batohi appeared before parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee yesterday

She also expressed concern over the increasing number of prosecutors who are being assassinated, saying it says a lot about the crisis the country is faced with

Adv. Batohi also declined to disclose the name of a suspended prosecutor who is alleged to be working with criminal syndicates, despite the members of the committee pressing for a detailed answer, she said it is against the Prosecution to reveal names of anyone alleged to be involved in a criminal case without proof

Additionally, the NPA head also told the committee that she has never experienced political interference since taking office in 2019.
