The Department of Soil Conservation and Ranges is currently overseeing the construction of livestock drinking ponds in two villages—Ha Khoro and Ha Ramotoho—within the Metsi-Maholo Community Council in Mafeteng.
The District Range Technical Officer from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Mrs. ‘Matumelo Moteelle said, the initiative aims to provide a reliable and accessible source of water for livestock. This is expected to control hydration and promote the animals’ good health and overall well-being.
She also noted that, the construction of these ponds is a measure to protect wetlands and ensure proper control of the grazing lands.
The project, funded by the US Mechanism LOCAL and ReNoka, is expected to be completed by the end of this month.
