A Malawian Court in Lilongwe has issued a warrant authorizing the search of former president Lazarus Chakwera’s home over allegations that he is unlawfully keeping four State-owned security dogs

This comes amid heightened political tension in the country following media reports suggesting that heavily armed police officers had earlier stormed the former president’s residence

The dogs, according to the affidavit, are normally deployed at State House and other presidential security installations, but were allegedly moved into Chakwera’s custody without approval

The search warrant empowers law enforcement officers to enter Chakwera’s Area 10 residence and seize the animals if found, to be presented before the court for further action
