The Butha-Buthe District Administration office and the police toured the district to help schools combat drug abuse among learners

DA Ts’epa Chaba has highlighted the issue, noting that learners’ drug use is often hidden in boarding schools. He said to address this, his office is collaborating with stakeholders to educate hostel owners on monitoring children and reporting suspicious behavior

On the other hand, the Assistant Police Commissioner Motebang Mphahama confirmed that dagga abuse is a trend in schools and surrounding communities, and that the police are conducting public gatherings and school outreach sessions to tackle the problem.

Sofia International School’s teacher, Mr. Lebohang Mabaso, commended the Police and the DA’s office for these efforts, saying they helped the school to discover leaners who were using drugs
