PM Ntsokoane Matekane yesterday officiated the launch of the Lesotho–South Africa Business Council, marking a significant step towards strengthening the two nations’ economic partnerships and bilateral relations.
The PM highlighted the close economic linkage between the two countries, which is evident through labour, trade, value chains, and shared development goals.
PM Matekane stated that, the new council will serve as a vital platform for the countries’ private sectors to collaborate. The council aims to address cross-border challenges, improve trade, promote investment, support small businesses, and advocate for better infrastructure and aligned regulations.
The Minister of Trade and Industry, Mokhethi Shelile, also highlighted key government priorities that will support the council’s work. These include ongoing business reforms, the introduction of digital services for investors, improved border processes, and efforts to create a predictable and transparent policy environment.
