The Council on Higher Education-CHE is urging all Basotho to proactively verify and evaluate their certificates, particularly those obtained from foreign institutions. This plea is intended to ensure the authenticity and legitimacy of qualifications.

In an interview with PC FM earlier today, Dr. Molapo Nhlapho- Senior Manager of Qualifications at CHE noted that, since the launch of the verification initiative, private sector employers have been inviting the Council to verify their employees’ credentials, acting upon the initial plea.

Dr. Nhlapho underscored the significance of this process in preventing fraud and ensuring that, certificates are from accredited and recognized institutions.

Mrs. Keketso Kutumela- the Qualifications Management Manager at CHE, highlighted the most prevalent problem identified by the Council: that, many Basotho fail to confirm whether foreign tertiary institutions are properly accredited before enrolling.

To support this crucial process, CHE is also urging employers in all sectors to include the costs of their employees’ qualification evaluation and verification in their budgets, citing the immense benefit to the company’s official records and integrity
