The Ministry of foreign affairs and international relations has signed an Agreement with the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance earlier today

The Minister of foreign affairs and international Relations Lejone Mpotjoane described the Agreement as a symbol of joint commitment to fostering close ties and an affirmation of shared values to advancing Lesotho’s development priorities

Minister Mpotjoane further said the Agreement will enable the IDEA to support key efforts in areas such as Electoral processes, gender and Inclusion and address climate change issues among others

The Regional Director for the Africa and West Asia Region at IDEA Dr. Roba Sharamo said IDEA is an intergovernmental organization that promotes democracy among its member states

He says the establishment of an office in Lesotho will enhance support towards strengthening democratic and governance institutions

IDEA is headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, with 35 members from Europe and 8 from Africa
